EVDEV Inc. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our website and the Shopify Plus stores we build for clients.
01. Our commitment
As a Toronto-based agency, EVDEV follows the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). We also align our work with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Conformance Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We believe accessibility is a shared responsibility across design, development, content, and operations — and we apply that philosophy to both our own website and the ecommerce stores we build for clients.
02. Conformance status
This website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA and is currently partially conformant: some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the Level AA standard. Partially conformant means that while most of the website meets the criteria — including keyboard operability, semantic structure, alternative text, and support for assistive technologies — a defined set of known issues remains, listed under Known limitations below.
We periodically audit the website using a combination of automated tooling (axe-core, Lighthouse) and manual testing with screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA) and keyboard-only navigation. The most recent self-assessment was conducted in April 2026; a broader third-party audit in July 2026 identified the additional issues now listed under Known limitations, and remediation is actively underway.
03. Accessibility features on this website
Features we have implemented to improve accessibility include:
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) across the site.
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images and aria-hidden treatment of decorative images.
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- A skip-to-main-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
- Keyboard support for interactive components, including modal menus and accordions.
- Text sized in relative units so users can zoom and reflow content.
- Form inputs on our lead forms labelled with associated <label> elements and error messages announced via aria-describedby.
- Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion media query: non-essential animations are disabled and all content remains fully visible.
04. Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Some accent-green text and button combinations on light backgrounds do not yet meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3; a revised accessible colour treatment is in progress.
- The newsletter subscription field does not yet have a programmatically associated label, and some navigation dropdowns are missing aria-expanded/aria-haspopup states; fixes for both are implemented and awaiting release.
- Some pages contain imperfect heading hierarchy and description-list markup that we are correcting.
- Embedded third-party videos or widgets may rely on their providers’ own accessibility implementations and may not always meet Level AA.
- Some legacy case study content may contain images with shorter alt text pending a content audit.
05. Compatibility
The website is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) on desktop and mobile, and with major screen readers including VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS. We do not support browsers or assistive technologies that are more than three years out of date.
06. Technical specifications
Accessibility of the website relies on the following technologies:
- HTML5 for semantic structure
- CSS3 for presentation and responsive layout
- JavaScript for progressive enhancement (with critical content available without it)
- WAI-ARIA for enhanced semantic information
