The story
Silly Goose Kids is a family-owned children's store in East York, Toronto, serving families since 2011. It sells toys, books, crafts, baby essentials, games and balloons, with more than 3,400 products online, local delivery in Toronto and shipping across Canada. EVDEV built ten custom sections for its redesigned homepage in the store's Horizon theme: a split hero that leads with gifts, product rows with add to cart on desktop, colour-coded gift service cards, shop by age tiles and a gift guide slider.
Silly Goose Kids wraps gifts, writes cards by hand and puts a gift receipt in every order, but its homepage ran the Horizon theme's stock sections: a full-width photo of a shop shelf with no headline, a services strip, three collection grids, a text marquee and two product lists.
EVDEV was asked to build the redesigned homepage.
A homepage that tells a parent or gift buyer, at the top of the page, that this is the place for thoughtful gifts for every age, then backs it up with the store's award and Google rating, gift-ready extras and local delivery.
Every section was to be editable in the theme editor and work on a phone.
We built ten custom section types for the homepage in the store's Horizon theme.
The split hero puts the headline, two buttons and a Google rating line above an orange benefits bar with a cloud-shaped edge. The Brands We Love marquee loops without a gap and pauses on hover, and the same section runs the As Seen On strip. On desktop, the Recent Bestsellers and Newest Arrivals cards show an Add to cart button on hover that adds the item without leaving the page. Gift service cards, shop by age tiles, a pickup and delivery block, featured collections, a gift guide slider and an about block follow. Every section has a phone layout and can be edited in the theme editor. Animations and transitions in the new sections switch off for visitors who ask for reduced motion.
